Children: James Richard (born November 16, 1977) Gina Marie (born October 23, 1980) Dana Rose, who was born with More…Down's Syndrome, (July 25, 1985) lives at home. Dana and I have been "Best Buds Forever" for a long time. Turns out that having a child with special needs can be a life enhancing experience beyond words. She is active in Special Olympics as a Gymnast and as an Equestrian. She has competed in Portugal, Austria, Estonia, Germany, South Africa, Switzerland, Finland, Greece, Canada and many of our 50 States. I do my part here, but I hate to travel. Mom is the chaperon on the trips and I stay home with the dog. Dana is also an accomplished wine maker with a number of Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals from International Amateur Wine Contests. Except for Wine Making, mom, who was a teacher, gets credit for all of the progress made by all of our children.
Military Service: Marine Corps 1967-1971 - Vietnam Vet 68/69/70
Comments:

After graduation I enrolled at the Altoona Campus and worked at the shoe factory trying to pay for it. In early 1967, my junker car broke down, my girl friend left me for another, got C's for grades and was broke.

My brilliant solution to that was to join the Marine Corp. Trained at Paris Island, then avionics school at NAS Memphis. Spent a couple months in Fatima, Okinawa flying on C130's, then transferred to a helicopter squadron in Vietnam sometime late in 1968. Came back "TO THE WORLD" in June of 1970. I re-entered Penn State as a business major. Four years undergraduate and two years graduate school (six years bar-tending was the best part of college) then finally a real job in 1977. Got married over term break in December 1975.

Worked four years each in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and then Somerset, as an auditor, a litigation support specialist, then as CFO of an Insurance Company. Came to Roswell, Ga in 1989 for another CFO job and decided to stay.

After a couple similar positions, I went entrepreneurial in 1995 and have since dabbled in a number of ventures, some successful, some not. Semi retired now and spend my spare time gardening and teaching wine making.

School Story:

This is a great site, I look forward to reading all the updates. We were lucky to have Bud and Peggy in our class, they have worked so hard over the years to keep us all in touch.

Don't remember who taught me English, but they would be appalled to know how many of the words used here required spell check. I quit worrying about where the commas go a long time ago.

I weighed 140 lbs when I was running track at AHS, 175 lbs after boot camp and now..... maybe I'll keep that to myself.

What grade school(s) did you attend?

What Jr. high did you attend?

RIP my friend. I will miss you. Rod and I were friends since First Grade at Cathedral. Rod had a way of keeping all the guys from 14th Street, Trostles, and Pero's in touch over all these years. We had over 50 people at a 70th birthday celebration in 2018, mostly becuase Rod knew how to get in touch with them. Rod held yearly reunion parties at his house in Harrisburg right up until he moved to Myrtle Beach last year. And then there were the Myrtle Beach golf trips starting as far back as I can remember, every St. Patrick's day several car/van loads of guys would make the trip from points near and far around the country. Rod handled all of the arrangements and made sure everyone had a good time, including plenty of Alka Seltzer and Tums.

Happy Birthday Marian. Its been a long time since I commented on this site. We are all doing fine, Dana is back doing Gymnastics and, Covid permitting, will be going to the national Gymnastics tournament at Disney world next June. Hope you and yours are well. Those two little ones probably fill your life with joy. My two six year old grandsons live close and we are blessed to see them often. Taking Dana and one of them to Special Friends bowling today. I need to post a current photo of the family on this sight.
